John Wernham opened his first Clinic in Maidstone in 1947, first in Mill Street, then in Museum Street.  Two years later the Maidstone Osteopathic Clinic was founded, the first in the country outside London.  In 1953 it became a registered charity and moved to the premises at no. 30 Tonbridge Road.

John Wernaham Clinic

What to expect on your first visit

The INITIAL CONSULTATION lasts about one hour, and subsequent visits about 30 minutes.

A CASE HISTORY is taken to record details of your ailment(s) including your medical history.

An OSTEOPATHIC EXAMINATION is then carried out, the osteopath will discuss the findings with you, followed by TREATMENT if appropriate.  At the end of the consultation, the osteopath will discuss with you if further treatment is necessary.

HOME VISITS can be arranged for those unable to attend the Clinic

What kind of treatment?

The style of treatment used in this Clinic is known as The BODY ADJUSTMENT.  It is a HOLISTIC approach aiming at stimulating the body’s natural tendency towards health..

The TREATMENT is suitable for all ages, from the youngest to the eldest, and not forgetting help for the mother-to-be.

It is safe, gentle and effective, no force is used.  It is drug free.

The BODY ADJUSTMENT can help in treating such conditions as

Low Back and Neck Pain
Arthritic Pain
Frozen Shoulder
Joint and Muscular Pain
Neuralgia
Sciatic Pain
Sports Injuries
Discomfort associated with pregnancy
Symptoms suffered by babies and young children
Circulatory problems
Cramp
Muscle spasms
Digestive problems
Headaches (arising from the neck)

A favourite quote of John Wernham:

“Don’t ask whether the case is suitable for osteopathic treatment,
ask what osteopathy can do for the case!”

In the summer patients can relax in the garden either before or after their treatments if they wish.
